There is a new SharePoint Certification, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, Business Intelligence. The exam, 78-702, is difficult to discover on Microsoft's learning site, or find on the MCTS certifications list. Despite these shortcomings, this is a real exam that you can take today.
Mostly, this exam covers Office PerformancePoint Server 2007, as well as SQL Server Reporting Services and Analysis Services. Analysis Services (SSAS) is the tradional data warehouse with star-schema tables. Reporting Services (SSRS) is the traditional data mart, from which reports can be designed and performed. PerformancePoint Server, an Office product, is a package of pre-built functionality for creating reports out of the data warehouse.
Excel Server, KPI and the Business Data Catlalog are also covered.
This is a relatively new exam and certification (July 16, 2009). There is even a typo on the exam description; testers are suggested to study roll-based security. However, this certification is real!
